Are you looking to clear out space in your garage or driveway? Donating your motorcycle in Oakland is not just a great way to declutter, but it also helps support your community through Ride Revival. Whether you’re based in the bustling Rockridge neighborhood or near the serene shores of Lake Merritt, your donation can make a significant impact. We accept motorcycles, scooters, and ATVs in any condition. So, if your ride has seen better days or is ready to hit the road again, we’re here to take it off your hands.
Our process is easy and straightforward. You can donate running or non-running motorcycles, making it convenient for anyone looking to part with their two-wheeled companion. Plus, with local pickup available, we handle the logistics while you focus on what’s next—maybe a new adventure or simply more room for activities at home!
What we accept
- Cruiser Motorcycles (working condition or not)
- Sport Bikes (running preferred, but we'll take yours regardless)
- Scooters (any condition, even those needing repairs)
- Mopeds (running or non-running, we want 'em all!)
- ATVs (all conditions welcome, just needs a title)
- Off-road Bikes (whether it’s dusty or pristine, we accept)
Condition & logistics
Running vs Not Running
We accept motorcycles in any condition! If your bike is still running, great! If not, no worries—we’ll take it off your hands just as easily. Don’t let a little engine trouble stop you from helping those in need.
Title Issues
Make sure the title is signed in the back with the odometer reading. If you’ve lost the title, don’t fret; we can guide you through getting the necessary paperwork squared away.
Storage and Pickup Logistics
Whether your motorcycle is parked in your garage or at the bottom of your driveway, we’ll arrange for hassle-free pickup. Just let us know when and where, and we’ll handle the rest, giving you more room for your next ride!
Title transfer & paperwork
In California, transferring the title of your motorcycle is a straightforward process. You’ll need to complete a Report of Sale form, which can usually be found on the DMV website. Both you and the new owner should sign the title, and don’t forget to note the odometer reading. If you’re donating, Ride Revival will take care of the necessary documentation for you. Remember to return your license plates to the DMV once the transfer is done!
Tax deduction for this donation
When you donate your motorcycle, you may be eligible for a tax deduction typically ranging between $500 to $5,000, depending on the bike’s condition and sale price. We’ll provide you with IRS Form 1098-C, which details the contribution and helps you claim your deduction come tax season. Always consult with a tax professional to maximize your benefits!
Local context — Oakland
Oakland boasts a vibrant motorcycle culture fueled by the Bay Area’s diverse communities and growing hipster enclaves. Whether it's the weekend warriors headed out for a ride through the hills or the dedicated enthusiasts frequenting local meetups, motorcycles are a staple on Oakland’s streets. Many of our donations come from folks downsizing after a big life change—think divorce or relocation. Others might be looking to unload bikes that have failed inspection or simply don’t fit their lifestyle anymore. Whatever the reason, each donation helps support local charities and creates a ripple effect of goodwill across the area.
